- A data recovery specialist will talk you through the data loss and recommend the method and service level that best suits your needs.
- You will then receive a quotation detailing the fixed evaluation fee and a price range for your recovery, together with a service contract for you to sign.
- For the in-lab service, you will need to dismantle the drive and ship this to your local OntrackĀ® Data Recovery lab. Shipping guidelines can be found here.
Evaluation of the media
- Once we've receives a signed copy of the contract, a full evaluation will occur, providing further analysis of the data and the condition of the data being recovered.
- A key feature of the evaluation service is Ontrack Verifile⢠online data reports, which allow you to determine what files can be recovered before committing to full recovery fees.
- These reports are typically delivered within 24-48 hours and provide a complete listing of recoverable and non-recoverable files in an easy-to-search format.
- A fixed price quote for recovery is also provided, together with a second contract to sign.
Data recovery
- Once the recovery fee is approved and the second contract signed, the recovery process begins.

- Ontrack Data Recovery expert engineers will work to complete the recovery within the specific time frame as indicated by the service level requested.
Return of the data
- On completion, Kroll Ontrack returns the data on the media of your choice (CD/DVD/external hard drive, tape etc.) with instructions on how to access or reinstall the data. All recovered data is encrypted (except Home User Service).
- The total recovery time varies according to the type of service and service level that you requested: - Within 24 hours for most Remote or Emergency level recoveries - Two to four days for most in-lab recoveries
